Sedation Dentistry

General anesthesia (or semi-conscious sedation) and conscious sedation are appropriate options for certain patients, especially those patients who are apprehensive about undergoing a dental procedure. As part of AZPerio’s commitment to provide optimum oral health care and minimize patient discomfort and anxiety, we have engaged Valley Mobile Services, a division of Valley Anesthesiology Consultants, to administer general anesthesia and semi-conscious sedation to our patients. Valley Anesthesiology Consultants is one of one of the nation’s premier providers of anesthesia services; a physician group nationally recognized for its commitment to the highest standards of patient care, serving patients and their physicians throughout Arizona for more than 30 years.

A Valley Mobile Services nurse will contact the patient (or responsible party) after the surgery is scheduled to gather basic health information prior to the case (no later than 1 week prior to the procedure date).

The fee for general anesthesia (or semi-conscious sedation) is typically not covered by insurance; this fee is based on the duration of the dental procedure plus the pre-procedure anesthesia time and the post-procedure anesthesia recovery time. The typical general anesthesia fee varies from $750 (1 hr) to $1350 (2 hours). Payment for dental anesthesia is required in advance of the procedure. A representative of Valley Anesthesiology Consultants’ billing service will contact the patient (or responsible party) no later than 72 hours after the surgery is scheduled to provide the patient with the estimated anesthesia fee and collect payment via credit card. This pre-payment is based on the estimated procedure time, however, the final dental anesthesia fee will be based on the precise duration of the anesthesia services. Payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) will be required at this time. The patient will be refunded in the amount of any over-payment.

A Valley Mobile Services nurse will contact the patient (or responsible party) after the surgery is scheduled to gather basic health information prior to the case (no later than 1 week prior to the procedure date).
