Steven G. Reitan, DDS
Dr. Reitan graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology in 1970. He followed that up with graduate study in genetics at Arizona State before attending Northwestern University to obtain his Doctor of Dental Science degree. He practiced general dentistry for several years, and was also a clinical instructor at the University of Kentucky and Emory University. In 1979 he returned to dental school at Emory and was awarded a certificate in periodontics in 1981.
A Diplomate in the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Reitan has participated in research studies involving local drug delivery for the treatment of periodontitis, and is an active member of local and national periodontal societies. He is currently serving on the continuing education oversight committee in the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Reitan sees patients in AZPerio’s offices at Pinnacle Peak and in Paradise Valley.

Ralph F. Wilson, DDS, MS
Ralph graduated from the Ohio State University three times; in 1993, Dr. Wilson graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology; in 1999, he graduated cum laude with a Doctor of Dental Science degree and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Society. He continued his education by specializing in periodontics, receiving a certificate in periodontology and a Master of Science degree in 2002.
Dr. Wilson was selected for an American Cancer Society Research fellowship during his residency training and was selected as the chief resident in his periodontal program. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Wilson has published articles in cancer and dental journals, and has been a podium speaker at the annual American Academy of Periodontology meeting on laser treatment as well as on emerging technology and techniques. He is currently involved in research using lasers to treat periodontal disease. He also helps coordinate the analysis, along with his AZPerio colleagues, of less invasive ways to perform sinus lifts. In his spare time, Dr. Wilson stays busy with his family and enjoys playing golf. Dr. Wilson sees patients in AZPerio’s offices at Pinnacle Peak and in Paradise Valley.

Bruce E. Houser, DDS, MS
Dr. Bruce Houser is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio, Texas. Following dental school, Dr. Houser completed a three-year residency in Periodontics at San Antonio, earning a Master of Science degree and certificate in Periodontics.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Arizona Society of Periodontists, the Western Society of Periodontology, and the Academy of Osseintegration. He is current President-elect of the Western Society of Periodontology and past-President of the Arizona Society of Periodontists.
Dr. Houser has published articles on periodontics and dental implants. He served as host of “Dental Dialogue,” an interactive radio show which aired on KFNX in Phoenix, and is past- President of the Scottsdale Paradise Valley Dental Study Club. Lecture affiliations include Phoenix College, Rio Salado Hygiene, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He sees patients in AZPerio’s offices at Pinnacle Peak and in Ahwatukee.

Randy R. Fitzgerald, DDS, MS
Dr. Fitzgerald graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1999. He attended dental school at Indiana University and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Science degree in 2003. In 2006 he received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and his certificate in periodontology from The Ohio State University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Fitzgerald received an National Institute of Health grant at Indiana University to study the effects of nicotine on gingival fibroblasts. At Ohio State, he performed research on the uptake of NSAIDs by the oral epithelium. Dr. Fitzgerald takes pride in his affiliations with local and national dental and periodontal associations. Dr. Fitzgerald sees patients in AZPerio’s offices in Ahwatukee and Gilbert.

Dirk M. Donovan, DMD, MSD
Dr. Donovan grew up and went to college in Evansville, Indiana. “I knew that I wanted to be a dentist pretty early in life. My father worked nightshift in a factory and I rarely saw him. My dentist was a happy, caring guy who surrounded himself with a wonderful staff and patients who felt comfortable and cared for. Who wouldn’t want a career like that?” He earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, in 2001, and completed his Master of Science degree in Dentistry as well as his Certificate in Periodontics from Indiana University in January 2005.
Dr. Donovan spent three years in his residency receiving advanced training in all aspects of periodontics, esthetic soft tissue surgery, advanced bone grafting surgery, simple, esthetic and complex implant surgery and IV/conscious sedation. Dr. Donovan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Donovan began his career in 2004 at a large perio-implant practice on the South Side of Chicago. He attended an education course in Phoenix in January 2007 and moved here three months later.”My parents retired to Prescott and the quality of life in Phoenix was so great in winter months. Northern Illinois can be very cold and gray.” Dr. Donovan relaxes by reading, going to concerts and sporting events, trying to cook, and enjoying all that Arizona has to offer. Dr. Donovan sees patients in AZPerio’s offices in Central Phoenix and Paradise Valley.

Holly A. McKnight, DDS, MS
Dr. McKnight attended Creighton University in Nebraska, where she grew up. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Dr. McKnight received several honors and awards during her dental training, including induction into the elite Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She received a Certificate in Periodontics and her Master of Science degree from The Ohio State University.
Throughout her training and practice, Dr. McKnight has been active in promoting and advancing dentistry through her involvement with several pursuits in dental research and contemporary treatment modalities. She has presented her findings in the technology of using cone beam CT for diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial health and pathosis at national research meetings.
Dr. McKnight is passionate about being an advocate for patients’ health and well-being, which has led to her participation and support of several organizations, including HONOReform Foundation, a national organization to promote patient safety in access to healthcare. Additionally, Dr. McKnight is an active member of national and local dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. McKnight is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. McKnight sees patients in AZPerio’s offices in Central Phoenix and Pinnacle Peak.

Jeremiah Whetman, DDS, MS
Dr. Whetman, a Southern Utah native (Cedar City, Utah), graduated cum laude from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2009. He attended Creighton University School of Dentistry and also graduated cum laude with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2013. While at Creighton University, Dr. Whetman received several awards and honors including induction in the Omicron Kappa Epsilon National Dental Honor Society. In May of 2016, he received a Master of Science degree in Dental Sciences and his certificate in periodontology from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Whetman researched and published on the effect of healing time on new bone formation after extraction and ridge preservation and dental implants. He actively involves himself as a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Whetman keeps busy with his wife and two sons playing sports and being outside. Dr. Whetman sees patients in AZPerio’s offices in Gilbert and Ahwatukee.
